About Laura

I have been working as a psychologist for 11 years and offer both supervision and therapy in my practice. Prior to private practice I had a background in community health working working with childhood trauma, families, clients from the LGBTQIA+ community and providing individual therapy across the life-span for various concerns. I provide both more on-going therapy, as well as more focused support around a particular issue or difficult period, and see adults, as well as adolescents and children (6+) in my practice. For clients who wish to work in their mother tongue, I provide appointments in German and Finnish.
In addition to therapeutic work, I offer clinical supervision (I am board-approved for those pursuing endorsement) both generally as well as around more specific practice areas.
Areas of work and approach:
I specialize in treatment of eating disorders, and other food and body-image related issues, however also see many clients for other mental health and life-related issues (e.g. trauma, anxiety/depression, life changes, grief and loss). I also frequently work with clients from the LGBTQIA+ community, migrants to Australia, and have knowledge around working with women’s health (e.g. PMDD, endometriosis).
My orientation is primarily Psychodynamic and relational, and I am also trained in and use Emotion-focused therapy and Schema Therapy alongside more here and now skills. In work with children, I use play and creative approaches alongside work with parents. I believe that change in therapy occurs within a safe and affirming therapeutic alliance where there is openness to express and be oneself, explore more deeply held questions and suppressed parts of self, and where one feels listened to with curiosity.
You can contact me below (either online form or via details provided). Finding a good fit with a therapist is important so I am happy to arrange an initial call to answer any questions.
